Poipet Sees Heightened Security Cover, Residents Prevented From Accessing The Border
Hundreds of Cambodian security personnel blocked all access to the border crossing at Poipet, in the northwestern province of Banteay Meanchey, on Saturday, ahead of opposition leader Sam Rainsy's planned return to the country.
Sam Rainsy posted on Facebook that he was able to board a flight from Paris on Friday, as part of his planned return to Cambodia. This comes one day after he was prevented from boarding a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok on Thursday. He did not specify where he was headed, except to say he was flying to Asia. Khmer FB here:
