Infuriated by New Laws, Indian Farmers Hit the Streets
Tens of thousands of farmers in India are protesting new laws that aim to dismantle government regulated farm trade and usher in sweeping agricultural reforms. While the government says this will transform Indian agriculture, farmers fear it will remove safeguards that protect them from free market forces and threaten the meager incomes of millions. Two rounds of negotiations with the government have not yet led to any breakthrough. Anjana Pasricha has this report from New Delhi. VOA Khmer's Sisovann Pin narrates the story in Khmer.
