Preah Vihear Dispute

More than 900 years old, Preah Vihear temple sits on a high escarpment overlooking the Cambodian plains. The addition of the temple to a list of Unesco World Heritage sites in July 2008 reignited longstanding border disputes between Thailand and Cambodia. In 2008, a military standoff has continued for months, and skirmishes have cost lives on both sides. In recent days, the cross-border conflict between the two countries continue.
