Khmer architecture was uniquely Cambodia style of modern architecture developed in the 1950s and 1960s. The New Khmer Architecture movement began with independence from France in 1953. In the years since, a booming property market has seen many of these iconic buildings demolished to make way for modern developments and today only a handful remain. (AP, Phnom Penh)
