Residents in a village in Siem Reap have discovered what could be a Khmer Rouge mass grave, Cambodian officials said. Authorities said further excavation is underway, and that the remains of hundreds of the victims killed in the regime could be unearthed. An driver of an excavating vehicle discovered the remains on July 30. The bloody "year zero" revolution that wiped out 1.7 million Cambodians -- a quarter of the population -- from 1975-1979, marking one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century. The remains are now displayed in a hut at the site waiting for experts to verify the remains. On Tuesday (August 7) villagers gathered near the remains to pray to their loved ones whom they believe were killed in the Khmer Rouge regime. Reuters
