WASHINGTON DC —
USAID has awarded Cambodia as a Champion in the Global Fight Against Tuberculosis.
In a ceremony in Washington Tuesday, Cambodian Ambassador Hem Heng accepted the award, calling it a “symbol of recognition of outstanding work.”
The award would also give “further encouragement to the Ministry of Health to combat tuberculosis in the country,” he said. Cambodia is working toward zero tuberculosis, with the help of USAID and the Global Fund, he added.
Ariel Pablos-Mendez, Assistant Administrator for Global Health at USAID, said cooperation was the key to Cambodia’s falling tuberculosis rates.
